What shes not Married!

I am so glad Lydia is safe, but I do have one question.  Why are they not married yet because I was sure that they were.  In Mr. Gardiner's last letter, he said that they would get married if father gave Lydia 5 thousand pounds a year.  After the letter arrived father was having a really hard time. I don't know why; but I do know that he was very quiet when my uncle mentioned money.  I hope he has enough.  I think the letter was joyful because Lydia was safe but it was sad because Wickham was in debt to my uncle.
